Fifteen years ago, the McGee family moved from Loveless, Texas, to Chicago, Illinois. At the time, Nathan McGee, the oldest of the children, had just turned eighteen. Bethie Grace was seventeen and not too happy about leaving her high school sweetheart behind. But even as she and JD Carmichael made plans to reconcile after she goes off to college, fate stepped in and pulled the couple apart.

Fast forward to the present day. Bethie Grace has just learned that she has inherited her grandmother’s house in Loveless. The family believed their father had sold the house after their grandmother passed ten years ago. Now that he’s gone, the truth is revealed. The house and all of its contents now belong to Bethie Grace. She has the estate attorney hire a contractor to get the house ready to sell, but she can’t let it go without just one more look at the second home of her childhood.

But JD Carmichael is the contractor in charge of the renovation and memories swamp the both of them.
